Afterward, we explored the many acres of the ranch, enjoying the new terrain, as well as the 3 burros and Hank the Dog. Warning-grocery options near the ranch are limited, so it may be wise to bring food with you. We used the guest kitchen (stove, microwave, frig, all dishes you need) to make dinner. It was a quick evening drive (less than 1 hr) from Rapid City, and the kids had a great time spotting the prairie dog towns along the way. What a great choice it turned out to be! The Circle View is a family-oriented B&B-a welcome break from the tourist-oriented hotels of the Black Hills. More Show lessįor "something different" during our 10-day South Dakota vacation, we made a reservation for 3 nights at this guest ranch right near the entrance and main visitor center for the Badlands National Park. Having researched the other accommodations in the Badlands, this one was a rare jewel. Our family had the suite (with kitchenette). As for my husband and me, this was one of the most peaceful, laid back accommodations we have ever experienced. The kids loved climbing up the very large hills and tumbling down, feeding the chickens, playing with the burros, running with Hank the dog, and meeting and playing with other kids staying at the ranch. The owners are just lovely, and a hearty and delicious breakfast is included (we were treated to scrambled eggs, sausage, sticky buns, english muffins with freshly made honey, cantaloupe, tomatoes and cucumber, cereal, juices, and coffee). The pictures do not do it justice-the views are so different and awesome-Badlands in the distance, sunrises and sunsets to take your breath away, and wide open spaces as far as the eye can see. Our family of five (kids ages 10, 9, and 6) spent one night in the Badlands at the Circle View Guest Ranch.
